Informed Consent

You are invited to participate in a research study entitled “Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Project Management Professionals” under the PMBOK® 8th Edition framework. Please read this form carefully before deciding to participate.

This study is conducted independently by Ragu Ragunathan and Praveen Palaniswamy, project management professionals with an interest in contributing to the body of knowledge on AI and its impact on the profession.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand how project management professionals perceive AI’s impact on their practices, job content, and skills — across project phases and performance domains defined in PMBOK® 8th Edition.

Who Can Participate:

  • Currently working or has worked as a project management professional
  • Has exposure to or awareness of AI tools in a professional context
  • 18 years of age or older

Procedures: If you agree to participate, you will complete an online survey of approximately 20–25 minutes covering your background, AI usage, perceived impacts, and open-ended feedback.

Voluntary Participation: Your participation is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw at any time without consequence to any current or future professional relationships.

Risks and Benefits: There are no more than minimal risks associated with this study. There is no direct individual benefit; however, findings will contribute to the body of knowledge on AI adoption in project management and inform future practice and training. A summary of findings may be made available upon request once the study is complete.

Compensation: No compensation will be provided for participation. The researchers derive no financial benefit from this study. Data collected will be used solely for academic trend analysis and publication in technical research papers, and will not be sold to or shared with any commercial entity.

Confidentiality: No personally identifiable information is collected at any point. All responses are fully anonymized and stored on password-protected systems accessible only to the researchers. No data that could identify you is collected, stored, or transferred across jurisdictions. Research records will be retained for three years following study completion, then securely deleted.

Independent Research: This study is conducted independently by the researchers and has not been submitted for formal Institutional Review Board (IRB) review. Participation is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw at any time.
